Bertie Ahern, former Taoiseach (PM of Ireland) enjoying a cup of tea
Dedicated to John Fallon
One tea bag can furnish
Many cups of tea.
That they waste so many
Is a cause of concern to me.
Too often I see them
Throw the bag away,
After it has furnished
A single cup of tay.
Please take the tea bag out
After a count of two;
And hang it up to dry
Like civil servants do.
Hang it up to dry
Until the next tea break:
And see how many cups
One tea bag can make.
Don’t leave the tea bag in
Till the tea is thick as tar.
Dip it in and take it out
For a nicer cup by far.
Then you can enjoy that bag,
Again and again.
Green Label, I find,
Can make up to ten.
And, when the flavour’s all used up,
Still don’t let it go.
Put it on the compost heap
To help your garden grow.
